Jesus' Quotes on Spirituality
Jesus said, "...if you stand by my teaching, you are truly my disciples; you will know the Truth and the Truth will set you free.” (John. 8:31-32)
Jesus said, “He who will drink from my mouth will become like me. I myself shall become he, and the things that are hidden will be revealed to him. (Thomas 108) [From the gospel of Thomas, unearthed with 51 other ancient gnostic Christian scriptures in Nag Hammadi, Egypt in 1945]

Anything you ask in my way I will do. Believe me when I say that I [consciousness of Christ] am in the Father and the Father [consciousness of Christ] in me, or accept the evidence of the deeds themselves. For truly I tell you, whoever has faith in me [consciousness of Christ] will do what I am doing; indeed greater things shall you do…
(John 14: 11-13)

The Pharisees asked him “When will the kingdom of God come?” Jesus answered, “You cannot tell by observation when the kingdom of God comes. You cannot say, ‘Look, here it is,’ or ‘There it is!’ For the kingdom of God is among you. (Luke 17:20-21)
…Rather, the Kingdom of God is spread out upon the earth and men do not see it. (Thomas 113)

Tell Me About Unity Churches?
by Bob Uhlar
You will find that you are genuinely welcome at a Unity Church. We provide a safe place to form new friendships and to explore your spirituality.
Unity Churches are called non-denominational or “trans-denominational” because we do not require you to recite pledges or sign any compelling clauses about what you believe.
Founded in 1889, Unity Churches have been around longer than most fundamentalist denominations.
We provide a “toolbox” for you to explore your spirituality. This “toolbox” includes Sunday Services, meditation, prayer, weekly classes, support groups, one-day seminars, discussion groups, bookstore and libraries.
Unity’s principles are being taught through many mainstream authors. If you have enjoyed books by Marianne Williamson, Neale Donald Walsch, Debbie Ford, Gary Zukov, Deepak Chopra, or Wayne Dyer, you will probably find a spiritual home here.
Unity has published the magazine Daily Word every month since July 1924. A TV version of the Daily Word, which ran from 1957 to 1986, added the phrase, "The Word for Today is..." to the American lexicon.
What Does Unity Teach?
The best place to start is with Unity’s Five Basic Teachings. Unity encourages people to explore and apply Unity teachings based on their own spiritual understanding. We believe this spiritual understanding is enhanced through reflective prayer and meditation.
The five basic ideas in the Unity belief system are:
1.
GOD — God is good, all-knowing, all-powerful and everywhere present.
2.
YOU — If God is everywhere present, then God is present in and around you all the time. The spirit of God lives within each person. Therefore, each person is inherently good. You can develop and nurture this inner God consciousness or let it remain dormant.
3.
THOUGHT — We create our life experiences through our way of thinking. Thoughts and beliefs held in mind create after their kind. You will experience life according to your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes about it.
4.
WORD — There is power in affirmative prayer, which we believe increases and enhances our connection with God. Never underestimate the power of your spoken declarations.
5.
ACTION — Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough. We must live them. There are examples of Unity students who intellectually understood the principles, but never allowed their passions and emotions transform the principles into useable form. That usable form is a faith, belief, or true knowing that these principles work and then living life in accord with this truth
Unity teaches how to apply spiritual principles in our daily lives (healing, finances, problem solving) – hence the nickname “Practical Christianity.”
We encourage everybody to accept personal responsibility by understanding the power of our thoughts, beliefs, and our spoken words. We are the masters of our own destiny.
Does Unity teach the Bible?
We believe the Bible is rich with symbolism. By delving into this “metaphysical interpretation,” the Bible provides us with powerful spiritual lessons that we can apply in our lives. This symbolism is compiled in the Metaphysical Bible Dictionary.
Many denominations place an emphasis on the teachings of the apostle Paul. Unity focuses on the teachings of Jesus. We believe he was teaching us a way to live in the world, rather than preparing for an afterlife.
The Unity Movement is part of a broader movement called New Thought.
All of these movements have the same "family tree" of brave progressive Christians who refused to let the Truth die as Christianity evolved during 2,000 years.
If you can't find a Unity Church near you, visit the sites of our sister New Thought organizations.
These two groups are confederations of all the above groups:
